Alice in Chains is a rock band Formed in Seattle in 1987 by vocalist Layne Staley and guitarist Jerry Cantrell. Though they were associated with the music genre grunge, their sound incorporates acoustic and heavy metal elements. They gained international fame in the early 1990s, together with other bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Nirvana.
