Drake is a Canadian artist and actor who was known for playing the role of Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation. He made mix tapes in 2006 that showcased his rapping and singing talents along with his pop appeal. As he appeared on numerous remixes and mix tapes, he gained the support of artists like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and Kanye West and became one of the most aspiring artists in hip hop and pop. In 2009, his promotional single Best I Ever Had reached number two on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Drake released an EP of songs from his popular mix tape So Far Gone, which peaked at number two on Billboard. In 2010, he released his first studio album Thank Me Later. The album hit number one at Billboard 200 and has since gone platinum. It was anticipated to create one of the biggest sales weeks for a single album in 2010. The full-length production featured collaborations with such artists as Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Kings of Leon. His EP So Far Gone has lead to several award nominations, including Grammys and selection to perform for the 2010 awards ceremony. Drake's next album Take Care is set to be released in September 2011.
