Jason Derulo is an R&B singer, actor, and dancer who began his career writing songs for other musicians and performing in his teens. He went to a performing arts school in Florida and began creating music at age eight. By his teens, he was penning songs for artists like Lil Wayne, Pleasure P, and Pitbull. He wrote and performed on the song Bossy for Birdman. Derulo moved from songwriting to performing after he joined Warner. He used a sample of Hide and Seek for his first single Whatcha Say, which made it to the Top Ten on the Billboard charts in Canada, UK, Australian, Switzerland, and Sweden. The song sold millions of digital downloads and went double platinum. His next single In My Head featured a more upbeat, dance sound and reached number one on the UK Singles Charts. His third single Ridin Solo, which originally contained The Verves Bittersweet Symphony, became number two on the UK R&B Chart. His self-titled debut album was released in 2010. The fourth single What If became number 40 on the UK Singles Chart and he later released The Skys the Limit to Australian radio. In 2011, Derulo made plans to duet with Auburn for a Michael Sembello remake Maniac.
