Jeremih is an American singer, musician, and producer signed to Def Jam Recordings. Raised on Chicagos South Side, he was a self-taught multi- instrumentalist who became a vocalist after receiving praise at a talent show. He attended Chicagos Columbia College to pursue a degree in music business and partnered with producer Mike Schultz to create material for a self-titled debut album. He met and performed for L.A. Reid, chairman of Island/Def Jam and Karen Kwak, vice president of A&R, and signed the same day. His first single Birthday Sex became a Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Single and reached the Top Ten. His first album reached number six on the Billboard 200 and Jeremih joined the Americas Most Wanted Tour with Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, and Young Jeezy. The next single Imma Star (Everywhere We Are) went to number 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. Jeremih followed up with his second album All About You, featuring the two hits Down on Me featuring 50 Cent and I Like featuring Ludacris, which both topped the R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart. Jeremih cites Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly, and Michael Jackson as his music influences, referring to them as true musicians with timeless music. His vocals have been compared to Raphael Saadiq and Slim of 112.
