Kesha is an American dance-pop singer from Los Angeles. She describes her style as garbage-chic and her stage appearance includes body glitter and dramatic right- eye makeup influenced by the film A Clockwork Orange. Blondie, Beck, Bob Dylan, and the Beastie Boys are some of her influences. She performs in a sing- song rapping style on numerous songs, particularly Tik Tok, and this style has received comparisons to Salt-N-Pepa. She has also received criticism for using Auto-Tune to distort her voice on Animal. Her debut single Tik Tok was released and topped the charts in eleven countries. She set a record as a female artist with the most digital downloads and the song was certified platinum. In 2010, she released Animal, a dance-pop record that ranges from energetic dance songs to electronic ballads. The singles Blah Blah Blah, Your Love Is My Drug, and Take It Off all became Top Ten hits in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. She appeared with Rihanna on the Last Girl on Earth Tour and won the Best New Act award at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards. Animal was re-released as the EP Cannibal shortly afterwards. The single We R Who We R debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 and became her fifth Top Ten hit in the U.S. She set off on her first tour Get Sleazy in the beginning of 2011.
