The Los Angeles-based, electro-rap group LMFAO came out with their major-label debut album in 2009, unleashing a new, brash, energetic sound. The theme of much of their music is drinking and partying. They refer to their music as party rock, a style that also includes comedy rap, party rap, and club dance. DJs, rappers/producers, and clothing designers Redfood and SkyBlu make up the group, who both grew up in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood and admired Michael Jackson. They are uncle and nephew since Redfoo is the son and SkyBlu is the grandson of Berry Gordon, Motown record label founder.
LMFAO released Party Rock EP in 2008, then released their album Party Rock in 2009. Their songs have been remixed and included in several dance compilations. Their experience at the Winter Music Conference inspired their first single Im in Miami Bitch.
Their second single La La La became 62 on the chart and the third single Shots reached the 68 spot. They recorded the theme song to the shows Jersey Shore and Kourtney and Khlo Take Miami. They have opened for the Black Eyed Peas and Redfood sang Duet on Behind the Front, the Black Eyed Peas first album. They have also performed in many other songs by artists like Kanye West, David Guetta, and Lil Jon.
