Nas is the stage name of rapper and actor Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones, IPA. He is the son of Olu Daram a jazz musician and was raised in New York City's Queensbridge housing projects. He released his debut album entitled Illmatic in 1994 under Columbia Records. Today, his work has been considered as an influence by many other rappers and hip-hop artists in the industry including Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Lupe Fiasco, The Game, Young Jeezy, Lil' Wayne, T.I., and Jermaine Dupri.
