A country folk rock band, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was founded in Long Beach, California back in 1966. The lineup of the group has changed over the years and has even changed their name in 1967 to 1981 to The Dirt Band. One of the hits of the group is a cover version of Mr. Bojangles by Jerry Jeff Walker.
