Smitty or Varick D. Smith in real life is a rapper and ghostwriter from Miami, Florida in the neighborhood of Little Haiti. As he grew up in his neighborhood, he came home to find out that his friend was shot dead because of his involvement in drugs. After that incident, he became more aware of his future. He started taking up journalism at the Florida A&M University only to leave two and a half years later to switch coasts and pursue his career in the hip-hop industry.
