Step Brothers is a 2008 slapstick comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly who both starred in Talladega Nights in 2006. Ferrell and Adam McKay, the director, wrote the film. The film received mixed reviews from critics with a 54% critic rating and 68% viewer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, in addition to a 11/2 out of 4 star rating by Roger Ebert.
Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) are two unemployed, spoiled, child-like men who still live with their parents and have no intention of moving out or finding jobs. They become stepbrothers through their parents marriages and display a child-like dislike toward each other. They have a huge fight, then watch Shark Week together until their parents switch off the TV and tell them that they should find jobs and see their therapists or else they will be kicked out. Brennan and Dale overcome their dislike for each other and learn that they have several interests. They eventually start an entertainment company together called Prestigious Worldwide.
Ferrell and Reilly have discussed a sequel in which they adopt children together. McKay was interviewed about this idea for a sequel, saying that they kicked the idea around and figured that the film would have a nice cult following.
