Waka flocka flame, born Juaquin Malphurs, is a Southern rapper affiliated with Gucci Mane and So Icey Entertainment. His name came from Waka Waka, the catchphrase of the Muppets character Fozzie Bear. From New York, he moved to Atlanta at age nine and established his career there. His influences include Gucci Mane, who mentored him through rapping, in addition to Lil Jon and Easy-E. He is also the son of Debra Antney, who is the former CEO and manager of So Icey. He joined Manes Brick Squad group alongside Mane, Wooh Da Kid, Frenchie, and OJ Da Juiceman. He has compared the groups style to the legendary N.W.A. Flocka released Shoot Me or Salute Me, his mixtape debut in 2009 with his first hit O Lets Do It, which reached number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100. He appeared on the song Bingo on Manes album The State vs. Radric Davis. Flockaveli, his debut album was released the next year, and MTV named him the eighth hottest MC of 2010. He appeared on the Throw It Up, Pt. 2 (Remix) on Lil Jons album Crunk Rock. He formed a rap super-group called Desperados with Wiz Khalifa, Uncle Murda, Ra Diggs, Maino, and Nipsey Hussle.
