How To Send MP3′s To Your Phone

You just downloaded one of your favorite songs or YouTube videos as an MP3.. but now what? What do you do with an MP3 once its on your computer, and how to you get it to your phone?

There are several ways to send MP3′s to your phone, but for the purpose of this post I’ll just talk about the two methods I prefer.

Method 1 – Using email to send MP3′s to your PC

I am assuming you already have downloaded the MP3 you want to send to your phone. If not, do that now. Then, follow these simple instructions to send your files to your cell via email.

Email is one of my preferred methods because it is free. I should note that using email to send files to your phone is NOT ALWAYS FREE. If you get charged to send/recieve text messages, you will be charged the standard rate (usually .3 or .5 minutes per text message). If you have free text messaging, using email to send to your phone will be completely free. It may be hard for some people to figure out at first, but once you have it down it’s easy as pie.

Step 1) Navigate to the ringtone on your PC

Step 2) Get on your cell, and send a text message to your email address. Just put youremail@provider.com in the “TO” box.

Step 3) Login to your email, and open the text message you sent yourself.

Step 4) Attach your MP3 to the email (I would recommend no longer than 400KB, which is around 30 seconds of high quality audio), and hit send. You may have to hit send twice.

Step 5) Get back on your cellphone, and view your text message that you sent from your email address.

Step 6) Listen to the the MP3 you sent yourself while on your cellphone. Is it playing clearly? If so, then it has been sent correctly. Now you need to save the MP3 to your phone, and then set it as a ringtone.

I’d recommend having a different ringtone for each of your 10 most often talked to contacts.

Method 2 – Use a USB cable to send MP3 files to your cell

This method is my #1 preferred method. USB cables for phones aren’t free – but they are cheap. You can settle for the cheaper ones, as they work just as well as the more expensive ones. USB cables are essential because they allow you to send any files between your PC and phone, quickly and easily. You can send MP3′s, WAV’s, M4R’s, Wallpapers, Games, Ringtones, among other things.

So now for the simple walkthrough for using a USB cable to send MP#’s to your cell.

Step 1) Plug your USB cable into your PC, and your phone.

Step 2) Verify you have a connection by navigating to “My Computer”, and locating your cellphone.

Step 3) Open your cellphone from ‘My Computer’, then proceed to find the location you want your MP3 to go. If you want a ringtone, then find the “Ringtones” folder.

Step 4)

a) If your Mp3 is on your desktop and you want to set it as a ringtone, simply drag it into the “Ringtones” folder. Done!

b) If your MP3 is in a folder, open the folder, find the mp3, and then drag it to your ‘Ringtones’ folder.All finished!
