Today, Bob Marley is considered as the most iconic and transcendent figure of reggae. He was the first Jamaican artist who able to achieve international success, through making music that was influenced by his native roots. His music was able embody the daily struggles of Jamaicans, including the plight of the impoverished and oppressed in his country as well as their devout spirituality. His songs were about faith, revolution and devotion and were able to create a legacy that lives on in the music of his relatives as well in the music of other artists that saw him as a great musical influence.
