Born in 1876 in Illinois, John Carpenter has been born and raised in a musical family.
Born in Park Ridge, Illinois on February 28, 1876, Carpenter was raised in a musical household. He studied at Harvard under John Knowles Paine, became president of the university's Glee Club and wrote some music for another club. Carpenter composed numerous musical works which embodied the American spirit.
