Hailing from Fort Myers in Florida, Plies signed a contract with Slip-N-Slide Records in 2004 after he recorded Tell Dem Krackers Dat, his first track. In July of 2006, at a Gainesville performance, an argument escalated into gunfire which resulted in two members of Plies' entourage got convicted of attempted murder. Plies and another member of his entourage were charged for illegal possession of concealed weapons. His debut album, The Real Testament, was released in August of 2007.
