Sabbath or Black Sabbath is considered to be one of the defining forces in the development and evolution of heavy metal rock music. They adopted the blues-rock musical style of several late 1960s acts such as Cream, Vanilla Fudge and Blue Cheer in their logical conclusion, accentuating the bass, slowing the tempo, emphasizing screaming guitar solos as well as in the lyrics of their songs that expressed macabre fantasies and mental anguish.
