Another big name in the rock music scene, Slipknot produced music which was an aggressive mix of post-Korn alternative metal, rap-metal and neo-shock rock. This style that they created made them one of the popular bands during the "nu-metal explosion" in the late 1990s. They were formed in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa with DJ Sid Wilson, Joey Jordison on drums, Paul Grey on bass, Chris Fehn and Shawn "Clown" Crahan on percussion, James Root and Mick Thompson on guitar, Corey Taylor on lead vocals and sampler/programmer Craig Jones.
